Blue Flames

Miss Layla started soccer a few weeks ago, and is a proud member of the Blue Flames. Under 4 soccer is quite a production. They split a regular field up into about six smaller fields with pop-up goals. The kids practice with their teams for half an hour and then have a 30 minute, 3 on 3 "game". The coaches are on the field the whole time, and they make sure everyone gets a chance to score (often times by scooping up a descending defender giving the child an open goal shot from three feet away, which results in a goal approximately 17% of the time).

The first week, Layla was the first to score a goal for her team, which she did without adult interference. She is energetic and athletic and loves to play, and is doing very well playing as a team and cheering for her teammates when she isn't involved in the play.

Because preschool and soccer aren't enough, Layla is starting dance next week. She has also requested art, cooking, gymnastics, piano, swimming and veterinarian classes. I told her we'll see. Maybe she'll forget...
